MEDIA - AO2026-09The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form. Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture. |
Steve Anderson Band: Our longest-lasting house band has become an audience favorite. Steve is a lifelong self-taught Abita resident. Steve possesses pure natural talent to perform classic Country songs perfectly. He is supported by another vocalist, Jan Biggs. Together, they project genuineness and warmth that draws the audience and set the bar for acts that follow. |
Gina Forsyth and The Copper Roosters: If there was an Abita Springs Opry Hall of Fame, Gina Forsyth would be in it. She has been on our stage perhaps more than any other musician. She is well-known and recognized as being one of the best fiddle players in Louisiana. Her latest effort, the Copper Roosters, is a bluegrass band and since Gina leads it, we know it will be great. |
Jonno and Katie’s “Louisiana Americana”: Jonno Frishburg is a very well-known Cajun music performer. He is now performing alongside his wife; Katie. They have branched out and are performing other Louisiana music styles and still include traditional Cajun songs. Jonno has been to the Opry previously with Bayou DeVille, and we are looking forward to his latest performance. |
Molly Reeves and her New Orleans Jazz Band: Molly has been on our stage numerous times as a side player in various bands, but never as a band leader. We assumed she was a support musician, but now have discovered, she has her own group. They performed recently at a Landing Concert in Covington and got high praise. We are happy to welcome her group to the Opry. |
