MEDIA - AO2025-11The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form. Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture. |

Spring Chickens. Our newest house band is becoming very popular in our area. They play Bluegrass with superior musical skills and deliver it with energy. We are very happy to have brought them on board. The house band has always been our opening act and set the bar for the rest of the show, and these guys do that very well. |

Amadee Frederick: Amadee the "Creole Man" Frederick is a life-long resident of Abita Springs. He is very well known among Blues musicians on the North shore and in New Orleans. He has been performing Blues music his entire life and he can put out some great blues sounds ranging from the hard driving hot licks to the more mellow Delta Blues sounds that are the tap roots of that great music form. Amadee's maturity as a musician and deliverer of this great American music form ranks him as one of the best around. |

Faubourg Playboys. His group of Cajun/Zydeco musicians are from New Orleans and have been performing in the Big Easy. They effectively blend those uniquely Louisiana musical styles. We welcome them to the Opry and look forward to hearing them play. |

The Zion Harmonizers. This great Gospel group is always a treat for our audience and have been on our stage numerous times, and we never fail to be moved and energized by their performances. To say that they are a premier Gospel group is an understatement. They have been performing for 86 years and originally began in 1939 as ‘Zion” and remained popular to this day. Under the late Sherman Washington, they established the Gospel Tent at the Jazz Fest and still appear there yearly. We are privileged to have this group close out the Fall Season. |
