The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form.

Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture.

Steve Anderson Band. This is our oldest and longest-lasting house band in the Opry’s tenure. They remain very faithful to that great traditional classic “honky tonk” country music. Steve is a self-taught Abita resident who has a very rich voice and can deliver songs from greats like Hank Williams beautifully.

Jessie Brown Family Band. Jessie and Angelyn Brown are no strangers to Abita Springs. They have performed Cajun music previously at the Opry and our monthly Cajun Dances at the Town Hall. Their group disbanded a while back but are now performing as a family trio. Incidentally, Jesse is an accordion builder and will certainly be squeezing out music on one of his creations at this show.

The Crybabies. We had the privilege of having heard this group at the Abita Springs Busker Festival. This is an all-female group of superior musicians who perform a variety of musical styles. Their originality and harmonies captivated the audience at the festival, and we are thrilled to see them on the Opry stage. This will be a real treat.

The Cotton Mouth Kings. This is a group of well-seasoned and very competent musicians who appear regularly in the New Orleans club scenes. They can be heard often in the clubs on Frenchmen Street. They are a returning group to the Opry and will treat us to some good ‘ol traditional New Orleans Jazz.
