MEDIA - AO2022-11The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form. Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture. |

The Right Tolerable String Band: If there was an Opry Hall of Fame, Pat would be one of the first inductees. Pat has been performing traditional old-time country music at the opry since its inception. He was a principal founder of our predecessor show, The Piney Woods Opry that weas the role model for the Abita Springs opry at the Town Hall. Pat is still active in the traditional music community in New Orleans. His group will bring traditional old-time string music and vocals to our stage. |

Patchwork Bluegrass Band: This group are newcomers to the Abita Springs Opry Stage. They were booked in by the music committee and are touted as a very talented bluegrass group. We like to keep bluegrass as an offering to the opry and is part of the very rich patchwork of musical variety we enjoy in Louisiana. |
|
The Zion Harmonizers: If you like Gospel music, this group of men are one of the premier groups in the country. The Harmonizers are veteran performers and have been in existence for many years. Under the leadership of the late Sherman Washington, they initiated the very popular Gospel tent at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The Harmonizers are still featured at the Jazz Fest every year. They have been at the Opry before and are an audience favorite. If you are here to see and hear them, you will leave happy. |
