MEDIA - AO2022-03The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form. Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture. |

Steve Anderson Group: A very popular house band. Steve is a rare talent. He has a very rich voice and that undefinable “it” that draws audiences in. His song selection includes a long list of traditional Country classics. He is backed up on vocals by Jan Biggs who enhances the set with some songs she does on her own. He is also one of the nicest most humble guys you will ever meet. . |
Band of Brothers:A new group to the Opry. They are among the group of musicians that Chris Talley, the leader of one of our house bands, has suggested this group as a good group to put on our stage. Chris has a knack of identifying very good musicians, and I am sure this group is among them. |
Ben Redwine Jazz Band: Our audience loves traditional New Orleans Jazz, and Ben is an accomplished jazz musician. He has been around and will, no doubt, bring an “A” group to our stage. Ben was previously booked for the past September, but we had to pull the plug on that show due to Covid concerns. We are looking forward to this set. |
The Ceilieh Ramblers: St Patrick’s day is just two days prior to our show, so we decided to close out this show with a Celtic band. This promises to be a high-energy Irish group paying tribute to St. Patty’s Day. We have featured several Celtic bands for the march show that always falls around or on St. Patrick’s Day, but our previous groups have either moved away or disbanded, and we are happy to have this band available. |
