MEDIA - AO2018-11
The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form.
Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture. |

Last Chance Bluegrass Band:
If you like very traditional well-presented bluegrass performed by a bunch of guys who are having fun, the Last Chance Bluegrass Band is the group for you. Their infectious personalities transmit to the audience. They have been pleasing audiences at the Opry for several years, and their energy warms our audience and sets the stage for other acts that follow.

The Raisins:
This group’s leader, Ali Kafka has appeared on the Opry stage previously with the Schmoozers, a group that specialized in Appalachian string music. She has added versatility to her repertoire by getting together with other musicians to form the Raisins, a jug band. Ali is part of the Busking community of musicians in New Orleans. Jug band is a style of choice among the buskers (street musicians) because of its very energetic and catchy styling. They performed locally and will be a great act for our show.

|
Kim Carson:
Kim is a highly regarded country music artist who is well-traveled and has appeared previously at the Abita Springs opry and our predecessor, the piney Woods Opry. She puts out some great country sounds including her originals in the traditional country mode. Kim is a real audience pleaser and we are always flattered that she loves to come and perform here.

The Electrifying Crown Seekers:
This is a very well-known Gospel group from New Orleans. They perform Gospel music in the traditional style. They are well-known in town, and our production manager became acquainted with them when they appeared at the New Orleans Jazz Fest Gospel Tent last spring. They agreed to perform at our November show, and we are flattered that a group with their prestige agreed to appear here. The crown Seekers will close out our Fall series for the Opry and will help celebrate our completion of sixteen years of bringing great music to a great audience.
