The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form.

Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture.

Chris Talley & The Three Rivers Cooperative:
Chris is the newest member of our board of directors, and we are fortunate that he agreed to come on board. What is interesting about his being one of our house band leaders is that we never quite know what he will bring to the stage. Besides being an accomplished musician himself, Chris surrounds himself with other very skillful folks. He is a tough act to follow and sets the bar for musicians who follow him to bring their “A” game.

The Affordable Bluegrass Act:
Affordable is always a good word and probably the reason this group adopted that name. However, this group of out-of-state musicians are a tour group. There are large number of Bluegrass festivals around the U.S., and they usually feature groups that are very high level and appear at various events. We are proud to have them consent to appear at the Abita Springs Opry.

The Slick Skillet Serenaders:
This is a ‘Jug Band.” That term refers to a time when a person blowing into a jug provided the bass for the group. Although that is not too commonly practiced today, it has become the name for a style of music. Jug band music is high energy, bluesey, catchy, and very rhythmical. It has a lot of personality. The Serenaders are a return group who were real audience pleasers in their previous appearance, but they have reconfigured somewhat and wowed the audience at the Busker Festival in Abita last May.

The Cotton Mouth Kings:
One of the greatest places to hear music in the world is on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans. The Cotton Mouth Kings are one of the groups that are very popular and perform regularly in the Frenchmen Street clubs as well as in other locations in the area. They have not been on our stage in a while and we are glad they are returning.
