MEDIA - AO2018-04
The Abita Springs Opry is a series of music concerts held six times a year and is produced by a nonprofit organization, Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots" music. Our music is played primarily acoustically, in its original form.
Our main thrust is old-time Country, Bluegrass, and traditional Southern Gospel music, but we often present other forms of traditional Louisiana music such as Cajun, Zydeco, Irish, or other types that reflect the many different groups of people who are part of our diverse culture. |

Three Rivers Cooperative:
Chris Talley, the leader of this group is a uniquely talented musician who has a lot of contacts and knows how to surround himself with other very talented people. He has brought different types of traditional music to the stage including Bluegrass, Western Swing and Country. What we always know, is whatever he brings will be very high quality and very entertaining. Chris is our newest member of our Board of Directors and we are fortunate to have him on the board.

Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Review:
Vanessa Neiman whose stage name is Gal Holiday has been performing in New Orleans for some time. She appeared on our stage several years ago when she was just entering the local music scene. She has grown in popularity since then and is in high demand in New Orleans. She performs originals in a traditional Country music format. We are looking forward to her return.

The Abita Stumps:
These local guys are regulars around Abita Springs. They close out for us at the annual Abita Springs Water Festival, and have performed at the Opry in the past. However, they have recently added a new dynamic to their music. The Lambert Brothers are the sons of Dalton Lambert, one of the principal band members, and his wife Rachel. Those boys have been playing music around Abita since they were big enough to hold instruments. What they bring to the Stumps is a great horn section. We always want to encourage young musicians, and these guys add a whole other dimension to this band. |

Jumbo Shrimp Jazz Band:
Traditional New Orleans Jazz music has become a favorite for our audience. New Orleans is the birthplace of Jazz, and many of the young musicians who gravitated to the local music scene following Katrina have studied and learned how to perform traditional Jazz. Some of the finest music on our stage has been performed by groups of young musicians who perform regularly for tips on Royal Street. Jumbo Shrimp is one of those groups. We are looking forward to their first-time performance at the Opry.
